Sauerbraten is one of the most well known German Dish in the USAit is based on a beef pot roast, we brine the meat for more than a week, in a brine made from vinegar, red wine and a wide variety of spices. After that we make a pot roast of the meat and draw a great gravy from some of the brine mixed with root vegetables. We serve this with our home made potato dumpling and red cabbage.
We serve this in our well known trays, they freeze well and are oven and microwave stable.
